2018 Class Project

Mark Your Mile

Leadership Hermosa Beach Class of 2018’s community service project, Mark Your Mile, was an effort to visually and functionally enhance the experience of individuals visiting The Marvin Braude Bike Trail, also known as The Strand. Eight mile markers that feature artwork by local artists were placed every quarter mile along the seawall on The Strand in Hermosa Beach, providing residents and outdoor enthusiasts with readily available metrics for tracking exercise while simultaneously appreciating themes that reflect Hermosa Beach culture. On March 27, 2018 the City Council approved a temporary 1-year installation with an option to extend for two one-year terms. The Mark Your Mile unveiling and artwalk successfully took place on June 2, 2018 with over 150 participants.
