2023 Class Project

The Class of 2023 partnered with the South Bay Parkland Conservancy on the Hermosa Beach Greenbelt Trail Restoration Project. The goal of this project was to restore small areas along the Greenbelt to original condition by replacing invasive ice plants with native, drought-tolerant plants. While known for its greenery, the Greenbelt provides very little habitat for native birds, bees, and other pollinators. In addition to expanding habitat for native animals of the Greenbelt, these pollinator gardens are specifically engineered to support local populations of critically endangered butterfly like the Monarch and El Segundo Blue.
